I used different colored peppers and didn't measure the ingredients exactly and I thought information technology was great! I used dark-brown rice, extra garlic, and cooked it for a total of 1.5 hours. Bang-up flavor, I will be making again!!!
03/09/2014
This is a keen recipe. I used footing turkey and italian turkey sausage instead of beef. The turkey is lower in fat which offsets the addtional cheese that I add.
04/22/2014
Made these concluding dark for dinner changed a few things. I let the rice simmer in beefiness goop, sautƩed the onions, garlic added carrots and celery with Montreal spice.I besides sautƩ the beefiness prior to stuffing the peppers. Mixed everything together adding grated cheese and breadcrumbs. The stuffing was amazing! Stuff peppers and bake in oven at 350 for 45 min. Also establish a zucchini in the refrigerator. Very delicious!!!! A must endeavour very easy and quick

Although I made a few minor changes I must say that these are the all-time ever!! I didn't have chunky tomato sauce and so just used canned chopped tomatoes and added tomato sauce to go the correct amount. I used shredded pepper jack instead of parmesean. Biggest modify was to use my Dutch oven instead of wasting parchment paper and foil. Still followed the temperature and time and they came out perfect! Thanks!!

Our favorite blimp pepper recipe! We just needed 3 medium sized peppers for our family unit, then I adjusted to 1 lb. of beefiness and 1 loving cup of rice. Still only used one-half the stuffing mix. I made 4 large meat balls with the remaining, boiled them in beefiness goop, then tuckered and put in the fridge. I also saved remaining pan drippings. Two days subsequently, I skimmed fat off the pan drippings, poured it over the meatballs, and heated in covered dish in the oven. Served on egg noodles (tossed with butter & basil after cooking). Yummy again. Volition add a little pork sausage adjacent time, as suggested.
02/06/2014
The whole family unit really enjoyed this one.add together a few alterations though. I did non put the tops dorsum on and replaced 1 lb of the hamburger with a lb of hot breakfast sausage. I also put mozzarella and parmesan cheese in the stuffing mix. Then I sprinkled pepperjack cheese on top during the last 10 min in the oven.

Update: I have made this soooo many times now. My family loves information technology, and I generally make this, due to the color variations, for Christmas Eve every year. I wish I could find a way to thicken the sauce, simply information technology's simply the way it goes; wait a brothier sauce with some fat from the beef. Nevertheless, this my go-to and merely stuffed pepper recipe. Cheers again, years later. / Had leftover jasmine rice and have been wanting to make stuffed peppers for a while. I never used a recipe before for stuffed peppers, only this is going in the volume. I love everything nearly information technology. I scaled to 4 servings, and for the "chunky tomato sauce", combined 8oz. can of tomato sauce and a 15 oz. can of drained, diced tomatoes. Likewise used footing sirloin, and cerise peppers. Followed the directions. Like shooting fish in a barrel to put together and baked information technology for ninety minutes. All I can say is delicious!!! Have passed on the recipe to my siblings before fifty-fifty finishing my dinner. Thank you!
07/13/2015
Information technology may just be a difference in preference, but these weren't our favorite stuffed bell peppers. Stuffing with raw meat and blistering yielded drier meat that was sort of caked together, rather than the crumbly, saucy peppers that we were hoping for. Flavor was pretty good, although I might utilize 1/2 of the garlic this recipe calls for if I were to make it over again.

I fabricated this today for luncheon and it was a BIG hit. I actually assembled it yesterday afternoon and refrigerated it overnight. I fabricated information technology as written except for slightly less table salt. It was splendid! In the by I have made these where yous blanch the peppers first and brown the ground beef. I thought this was so much easier, fifty-fifty though information technology does have longer in the oven. The garlic and parmesan cheese gave the dish a wonderful flavor. I'1000 looking forward to making with half sausage, half ground beef adjacent time. The just thing was that I had to cook it longer than the recipe states. My peppers were large and I take a gas oven which e'er tends to have longer. I even bumped the temperature upward a bit for the get-go one-half hour, only it still took but shy of two hours. Thanks for the recipe!
02/11/2014
This is undoubtedly the best pepper recipe I've ever eaten. I added a little Italian sausage to the burger and also some herbes de provence to both the sauce and the meat. Wonderful!
01/23/2015
I make stuffed bell peppers all the fourth dimension, just I have never thought to flatten the bottoms or poke holes and so the juiced bleed. So smart! I am also going to try putting the peppers on a raised cooking sheet and so the peppers don't swim in juice the whole fourth dimension. I highly recommend putting aluminum foil down as well to aid with cleanup. These tasty buggers make a mess.
xi/18/2014
OMG. Admittedly loved this recipe. Best stuffed pepper'due south I've ever treated my mouth to. Next time, I've going to try and layer the meat/rice mixture with either Ricotta or Cottage cheese(whichever I accept, volition bleed cottage cheese). This recipe really is amazing, though it did take a bit longer than I imagined to do the prep work. Well worth it though. I used basis turkey to make mine.
04/22/2014
This is then good!!!!! I used Hot Italian Turkey Sausage (remove the castings) instead of ground beef, and used chicken goop instead of beef broth. Admittedly fabulous!!!!!
07/24/2014
This was delicious! I used meatloaf mix (pork, beef, veal) instead of ground beefiness and regular not chunky love apple sauce. I besides constitute that we liked it much better with red, yellow, orange peppers vs. the green!
11/15/2016
I mostly used this recipe as a guide and then, equally I usually do, doctored it upward accordingly. Instead of hamburger, I used Italian sausage. I precooked everything so broil time was quicker. I use marinara, chop up the tops and add together them to the mix and, because the mix is already hot, bake time is only most 45 min.
01/05/2016
Cracking basic recipe! I made it acc to Chef john's instructions and they came out perfectly! I used 1lb basis beefiness and one/2lb sweet Italian sausage. To the meat I added actress garlic, shredded carrots, herbs de provence, and a piddling sauteed onion along with Chef John's ingredients. I finished off some jarred spaghetti sauce and besides used crushed tomatoes. As suggested by another reviewer, I cooked brownish rice in the beef stock with a bay leaf and a clove of garlic. When adding the meat mixture to the peppers, I added a piffling of the tomato sauce one-half style, and then more meat, then topped with more than sauce and the lids. I will line the blistering sheet with foil side by side time. My entire family loved it! Thanks, Chef John!!
11/xiv/2015
I have to confess, I don't like peppers! But, I ate two of these! I used beefiness and venison, brown rice and a can of burn roasted tomatoes and a small can of tomato plant sauce and stale parsley since I didn't take fresh. Otherwise I tried to follow the recipe pretty exactly. It was very skillful and was washed in an hr and a half. I will be making this again, only not in a 9x13 pan...it's just likewise large. I'm going to use a taller casserole dish next time. I had about a cup and a one-half of meat mixture left over and fabricated half dozen piddling meatloafs in a muffin pan with that. It's very, very good!
09/08/2016
really groovy recipe. I used basis sirloin and italian sausage. I was out of worcestchire sauce and so i used teriyaki sauce in its place. I likewise used 2 bags of Steam Fresh Birdseye Southwestern style rice (microwaveable) which saved some time. I used two bags to cutting down on the meat and plus we dear rice. This was a corking recipe that i topped off with a slice of provolone under the broiler for a few minutes ( to brown). This was easier to prepare than my usual recipe.
08/08/2019
This recipe reminded me so much of my momma's stuffed bell peppers when I was growing up! I love how flavorful Chef John made it with the added red flakes! Perfect! I did notice that the video says 1/2 cup of beef broth but the recipe says 1 loving cup. I think 1/two cup should be used in social club to take a little thicker sauce! Honestly, this is a must endeavor recipe because it is spot on! Love this and thanks Chef John!!
03/31/2016
This is a very elementary all in one meal to prepare and easy cleanup. The sauce, although quite basic, had a nice flavor and went well with the peppers. The filling was practically a meatball in consistency later baking which I liked, but my married woman said she would prefer more rice and less meat. I wanted to follow every bit written so didn't read others' tips and overall this makes a squeamish dinner, specially with hot sauce. Side by side time I will likely add some additional seasoning and possible use yellow rice to heighten things a bit. Keep helpin me look expert Chef John!
09/10/2016
Fabricated this final night and it was delicious! I did use light-green peppers instead of red and I switched out the rice and used Farro in its place. Next time I'll likewise add more than onion since nosotros all love the taste.. Also, since I went a footling over on the quantity of meat, I rolled the remaining meat mixture into tiny meatballs and put them in the sauce in between the stuffed peppers.
09/27/2015
Came out not bad, even my two yr one-time was eating the peppers! I only used a pound of footing turkey, and I added all the reserve tomato sauce to the meat mixture. After stuffing, I used the sauce from the pan to garnish the tops. And I used curly parsley, it was astonishing. I did follow the recommendation to put a cookie sheet under the dish. I remember this helped go on them moist, and the bells slightly crisp. I used orange bells.
04/01/2015
Had lots of left over rice so added information technology to browned up basis beef, onion, jalapeno and our seasoning preferences. I cut our peppers lengthwise ( personal) and baked with some seasoned diced tomato, about 45 min. Very nice, easy dish. Would love to try with Italian sausage.
02/15/2016
I microwaved the peppers for about 7 to x min, in order to soften them, also precooked the sauce on stove. I was running late on time, yes I'll cook this over again.
04/27/2019
I e'er loved my mom's stuffed peppers growing upwardly which was basically meatloaf, stuffed in raw green peppers. When I got older and looked up the recipe, I saw it had rice, the meat was sauteed and peppers blanched first. I but went dorsum to my Mom's manner. Merely this recipe is my Mom'due south on steroids. I added 1 egg and a picayune bread crumbs to the meat mixture and used Italian diced tomatoes along with the lycopersicon esculentum sauce. It was delicious! The sauce is so good; helps keep everything moist. He's right, the cookie sheet makes it take longer simply found it cooked evenly. I like the suggested manner to cutting the peppers and using the lid. You can get alot more than meat in there. I fabricated 4 and heaped them loftier like an ice cream cone. This will now be my go to recipe.
07/27/2016
I used reddish bong peppers, Italian sausage instead of ground beef and quinoa in stead of rice (diabetic household) and used very little salt.. Used mozerella cheese cause that'southward what Ihad on mitt. I made 3 for me and 3 for my husband who likes a more spicy season. In his I added Mrs. Dash Actress Spicy Seasoning and a pinch of habanero. They were delicious and we will definitely make them once more. My husband who is a Picky Eater and was quite hesitant well-nigh trying this, loved his. They re-warm upward very well in the microwave.
08/10/2014
First fourth dimension having stuffed peppers. Used this recipe. Turned out crawly. I loved the oestrus from pepper flakes. Used Rinaldi spag sauce instead of plain tomato sauce. Will definitely make again.
08/26/2016
The rice was mush because it was already cooked, the bell peppers were almost raw.
05/05/2014
Yum! Great 2d phase food for baby!
03/22/2015
I made this recipe and substituted turkey instead of beefiness and information technology was a major striking! Even my meat and white potato husband tried some of the bell pepper. That says a ton!
08/01/2014
Very expert, peachy use of left over rice with not much burger. Economical and yummy!
07/12/2016
Was in a pinch for fourth dimension, and then wanted to cook everything first. Hither were my changes: -Just sliced the tops off 5 peppers (no other messing with them), and roasted them 15 min @ 425 by themselves right on the oven rack (needed double this or increased heat) -Cooked the ane/ii finely cut onion and tbsp garlic in a pan, added half to the sauce at the bottom of the baking dish, left half in the pan. -Added sweet italian flavored ground chicken to the pan, added ~ 1T of it. seasoning and cooked until done. I followed the rest of the recipe & these turned out fabulously. Side by side time I'll utilise a little more sauce in the meat mixture, which is how my mom used to make them. My husband and I both said "keep!" to this recipe. I'll make these again!
05/13/2015
Fabricated with 1/2 ground beefiness and ane/2 sweet Italian sausage. Stuffed in green peppers. Succulent - Cheers Chef John
02/26/2017
Great dish, merely takes much longer to cook. We now cook the footing beefiness about fifty% prior to placing in peppers, as you yet need enough fourth dimension to soften the peppers.
xi/04/2016
I precooked the meat. That felt safer. I love the Italian flair. Side by side time I volition do one-half Italian sausage. I also added shredded cheese to the acme after the spoons full of love apple sauce. I think it needs more sauce in the peppers.
03/23/2020
I brand it a dissimilar mode and less time consuming. I take out the core and all the seeds...then I boil the bell peppers 10 min ...while boiling I dark-brown the basis beef onions with tomatoes sauce of your liking and also seasonings of your liking....I like the knorrs rice 7 minutes so I mix in with the basis beef...I so set bong peppers on a cookie canvas I put shredded Mexican cheese on lesser so fill with stuffing and sprinkle and repeat with Mexican cheese on summit put in oven for 350 degrees or fill cheese is melted....ordinarily only takes almost nigh 5 to 7 minutes and voila done!!! My fiance...picky kids and friends hard workers love this recipe.never failed...delight enjoy
01/26/2016
I used 1 cup mozzeralla and 1/ii parmesan. I likewise substituted the parsley for oregano, thyme, and basil. I used chicken broth instead of beef broth because...well...oops. I added in spinach and mushrooms. I used Prego three cheese tomato sauce.
08/04/2015
Loved this recipe! Brought back memories of Mom making stuffed peppers when nosotros had an abundance of bell peppers in the garden. I made this recipe gluten-gratuitous and dairy free because of food allergies in the family. Wonderful and easy to make. Next time I make rice, I will make plenty extra to have a caput offset on this recipe.
08/21/2016

01/23/2019
I'm in the process of making this now but in the video you say to apply ane/two a cup of broth just the recipe says one cup. You said put ii 1/2 cups of tomato sauce in the pan only then we need more to put on top of the peppers and the same with the parsley. I'1000 only a piffling confused but hopefully information technology turns out good...
03/08/2019
I sprinkled mozzarella cheese over each 1 , yummy!!!!!!!!! These are perfect blimp bell peppers!!!
03/xix/2017
Love this recipe. By far the Best stuffed peppers I've ever eaten...The whole family agrees!
10/ten/2019
Really easy, and really yummy.
06/22/2020
I thought the item to be delicious. I likewise thought them to be of German origin. I went Pheasant hunting in Western Kansas and spent evenings and ate our meals in a friends parents farmhouse. WAS led to believe they are of German origin? The friend is Jerry Younger from the Far-Mar-Co Company. The Western Kansas customs is Hays Kansas on I-70!
02/17/2020
I've made this keeping to the exact ingredients and information technology's a winner. However, tonight I made it over again but noticed I didn't accept enough ground beefiness so, I took some cooked pork chorizo I had in the freezer to make up for the ground beef. It was 5 stars before...but with the chorizo it's 6 stars.
12/xix/2019
This stuffed bell pepper recipe was elementary to ready and had a savory flavour. This is a meal that I will exist making again!

06/13/2016
This is all-time recipe I've come up across. Married man talked me into making for him now I'k a fan too!
08/22/2018
It was delicious. The merely change I made was that I stuffed hatch peppers instead of bong peppers. They're in season for such a short time that this was a great fashion of enjoying this excellent delicacy.
04/21/2021
This is a recipe to hang onto! And then I took the advice of some other commenter and I boiled the bong peppers while I browned the meat. I let my oven preheat at 375 and cooked one pound of burger and a half pound of turkey sausage with olive oil, garlic, a can of mushrooms ,and office of a couple light-green onion. While I let the grease bleed off to the same pot I added a tin can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce, garlic from a jar, and the residuum of the dark-green onions. I seasoned with dried tyme, parsley, chili flakes, crushed bay leaves, and pepper. I added the meat back to the sauce along with my jasmine rice (rice cooker is a life saver). As you can run across I used a Dutch oven (and posted three times because I didn't know what I was doing) there was no need for me to cut the bottoms considering they all fit in the bottom nicely and could've fit a seventh. I used cooking spray on the lesser then assembled, mozzarella, filling, mozzarella, top of peppers. There was filling left over I merely piled information technology into the middle and covered it with cheese too. After I permit the whole thing cook for 10 minutes I baked the top so the cheese got brown. Then much fun to brand and very very tasty.
01/31/2019
This recipe comes out great everytime. I think the beefiness broth mixed with the tomato sauce in the pan is the key!
10/xiii/2017
Swell recipe I merely added fresh roasted corn.

03/22/2015
My wife is making me prepare this for her once more tonight. Demand I say more?
07/24/2016
Double batch for lunches and freezing. Very practiced but second batch turned out better. Additional parsmesan and a little mozzarella as well every bit diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce. My new favorite blimp pepper recipe. Also added quite a bit more than garlic. Personal taste. Excellent. Much easier than par-humid peppers similar my erstwhile recipe chosen for. The parsley was a different twist besides.
05/01/2016
I used red peppers, wild rice, ane tin Italian manner diced tomatoes &ane can Italian tomato paste (instead of the chunky lycopersicon esculentum paste), and vegan meat, delicious!
03/14/2017
I made this last night for dinner. Hubby and I really enjoyed it, we switched the serving size downwardly to four so there would be leftovers to take to luncheon. Really glad we did that. Merely thing I would modify is the amount of sauce, I would prefer there to exist more sauce and thicker.
01/10/2017
I think this is one of the best Beefiness and Rice Stuffed Pepper recipes I've ever made. The beef is very flavorful and the sauce is delicious. I used 1 pound basis beef and 1 pound mild pork sausage. I used both sugariness cerise and light-green peppers that were quite large.
08/09/2017
My go-to recipe for blimp peppers! I used to make them a sure mode for 10 years, just this is the way I make them from now on. I admittedly love the onion and love apple sauce these peppers cook in. It is so skillful spooned over the peppers, and a lot of times I have leftover sauce that I can re-use in other recipes, or savor in a bloody mary. This is a classic, simple, comforting dish that everyone will love. I can't look for Fall/Winter to roll in so I can offset using my oven over again!!
04/26/2018
Just fabricated it for dinner tonight. Delicious ??!!!!! Only affair that I did dissimilar was that U used tomato sauce with cheese already in it. Information technology was dollop practiced ??. 08/xiv/2016
I grew a lot of bell peppers and take been searching for a recipe and came across this one. It reminds me of my grandmothers so thought I would try information technology. :) I inverse a few things, I had merely made homemade salsa (pico) then I used this forth with one cup of canned tomato plant sauce. I did non employ the parsley but had cilantro in the salsa. Really liked this and will do it again.
03/07/2020
My girl and friend loved it! Admittedly delicious!
08/24/2020
I accept made this so many times over the years, for guests and but for united states. I always use some grade of marinara, either bootleg or if I am lazy, jarred. Yesterday I used a jar of Mid's Marinara. I always slice a whole sweetness onion and utilize ruby and xanthous peppers. I had bought a new chunk of parm but ended up using the remnants of some leftover parm, cheddar, and a little cojack from the fridge that nosotros had shredded over the past week for other meals and it was great. I tin't imagine e'er going back to the one-time fashion of making blimp peppers. I love Chef John.
04/26/2019
I mixed 1 lb ground sirloin and 1/ii lb pork sausage, plus all the other ingredients and fabricated 3 blimp peppers. They were delicious. Yum. I'll do this again with out a uncertainty.

04/xx/2019
I seasoned the meat to taste but overall keen recipe! Also, I used different colored peppers
10/31/2016
Made it substantially by the given recipe only took a few shortcuts: used stale onionbits in the sauce and the same love apple sauce in the meat equally in the pan- not a mesomorphic 1. Of course I had to sprinkle more grated cheese on superlative towards the end. Everyone loved it from the ane year erstwhile to the 70 yr onetime! Will exist making this over again.
08/07/2017
This will definitely be a recipe we utilise often. Made it exactly as directed with one small Edition mozzarella. I'g sure would accept been merely as good without information technology. Keen RECIPE!!! Nosotros have a large family and so I doubled upwardly on recipe with leftover meat made meatballs was excellent no leftovers.
02/02/2022
I added Italian sausage, minced garlic, beef base and substituted lycopersicon esculentum paste for tomato sauce in my mix. I as well added onion soup mix and cut the salt intake to i/2 tsp. And used spaghetti sauce for my pan base. Information technology was then expert!
09/09/2021
Delicious! I used ground turkey and veggie bouillon instead of beefiness broth. The pan sauce with crushed red peppers is spicy, so I wiped it off the outside of the bell pepper before giving it to my 1-year-quondam. She loved it!
10/27/2020
Slap-up blimp peppers I inverse to cherry peppers because I exercise not like green
10/02/2020
Delicious
10/29/2017
This was a good recipe but I didn't take the right stuff....I had Minute Brown Rice that I didn't melt...I didn't dark-brown the ground chuck, I cut the onions very modest and didn't soften them....cooked the dish hour covered and a half hour uncovered....I also added a can of Italian tomatoes 1/2 in making meat and rice stuffing and half with the tomato plant sauce, I only had a eight ounce tin.it turned out slap-up and was moist and rice was done very flavorful...Cheers, Happy Cooking!
04/02/2019
I made this as written and it was flavorful. My married woman loved it.
05/fifteen/2019
I used footing turkey meat As well I used burn roasted tomato plant's for the pan as we similar a petty spice in our life!
01/19/2020
Kickoff time making stuffed bell peppers I wish I can upload my picture it was pretty adept I call back if I would have let the bell peppers cook a piffling bit more longer it wouldn't be so difficult but yet soft and some places the ingredient was definitely easy to make with the hamburger seasoning and melt rice and onions I'll definitely effort it a dissimilar way simply overall it was okay.
12/09/2016
Merely made this, very good. Keeper recipe, will make again. I did as another person did, used one can of diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. Did bake for 2 hours though. I used cherry-red and orange peppers, just like the season of those peppers better.
02/21/2020
It was very good. I adjusted a few things simply information technology was a great guide
05/08/2020
The hubby and I loved it. I used ground pork and ground turkey and just followed the recipe. Making information technology this night for the second fourth dimension.
04/10/2017
I followed all the instructions but I felt the peppers were not as juicy as I expected them to be, the meat was more of a hard ball in the eye. The taste of the filling was good. I will try them again but this time i think i will cook the beefiness separately.
